Master of Information and Communication Technology

The purpose of this degree is to provide graduates working in the area of information technology and telecommunications with a deeper understanding of the organisational, economics and policy issues essential to the effective management of information technology.

The degree of Master of Information and Communication Technology shall be subject to the University Course Rules for the award of the degree of Master, together with the following conditions:

(1) Entry to the Master for Information and Communication Technology will be on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Information Technology and Computer Science. Candidates would normally have, either:
 

(a) 

the Graduate Certificate in Information and Communication Technology (with an average of 65% or better); or
 

(b)

an Australian Bachelor degree or equivalent (with a grade average of 65% or better) related to IT&T, for example computer science; information technology; business information systems; computer, electrical or telecommunications engineering; or
  (c) a Bachelor degree (with a grade average of 65% or better) in any area plus at least one year (full-time) or two years (part-time) employment in the IT&T industry; or
  (d)

applicants who meet the academic requirements for entry but have a degree in an area unrelated to IT&T and who do not have work experience in IT&T (one year full-time or two years-part time) may take the Pathways course prior to entry. Upon successful completion of this program students will be permitted to enrol in the above course with six (6) credit points (one subject) of advanced standing.

In addition, it is desirable that applicants have at lease one year of relevant professional experience in information and/or communication technology.

The Master of Information and Communication Technology degree will normally occupy one year of full-time study or part-time equivalent, and requires satisfactory completion of 900 level subjects to the value of at least 48 credit points (excluding the subjects IACT960 and IACT970).

At least five (5) subjects, with a minimum credit point value of 30, must be selected from the IACT Graduate Subjects. If only five (5) are chosen the other three (3) subjects must come from either the CSCI Graduate Subjects or the Graduate Additional Subjects List.
