Master of Arts (Honours) by Research

The Master of Arts (Honours) by Research includes specialisations in the following areas:

  • Communication and Cultural Studies
  • English Studies
  • History
  • International Relations
  • Maritime Policy
  • Modern Languages (French, Italian, Japanese and Linguistics)
  • Philosophy
  • Politics
  • Science, Technology and Society
  • Sociology
  • CAPSTRANS

Entry to the Degree
Entry to the degree is normally from the BA Honours. Students having a degree with Class II division ii or higher will normally be accepted into the Honours Masters program.

Time Limits
A full-time candidate will normally complete the Honours Masters degree in one year. We require it to be completed in not less than two consecutive sessions, not including Summer sessions, from the date of registration. A part-time candidate shall complete the Honours Masters thesis in not less than three consecutive sessions, not including Summer sessions and not more than eight consecutive sessions, not including Summer sessions, from the date of registration.

Length of Thesis
The Honours Masters thesis shall be approximately 50,000 words in length

Students of the Faculty enrol for the MA (Honours) in one of the following areas. The specialisation appears on the testamur at Graduation.
