BACHELOR OF EDUCATION IN PHYSICAL AND HEALTH
EDUCATION (804)
This course is intended to provide a sound academic
and professional training for teachers who wish to be employed
in the areas of Physical Education, Health Education and Personal
Development.
The course normally extends over a minimum period
of four years, and offers specialist studies in the socio-cultural
foundations and the physical and behavioural sciences of human
movement and their application to physical education in schools.
Extensive studies in health education and personal development
are offered in the course. The specialist subjects in the
program are complemented by studies in dance, games, gymnastics,
aquatics and track and field, together with fieldwork and
practice teaching experience.
The course requires the aggregation of at least
192 credit points with 48 credit points normally being undertaken
in each year of full time study.
The course contains core subjects, the study
of which is mandatory, and elective subjects which allow an
element of choice for the student.

below.
It should be noted that:
1. In each of the four years a period of mandatory practical
teaching experience in schools is required.
2. Attendance is mandatory at tutorials, laboratory classes
and excursions unless given specific exemption by the Course
Director.
