Professor Wilf Yeo, Professor of Medicine
Wilf Yeo is the Foundation Professor of Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Wollongong, Graduate School of Medicine (GSM). Before arriving in Australia in January 2007 he was Senior Lecturer in Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics at the University of Sheffield, UK, and Consultant Physician at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
He has over twenty years experience in conducting clinical trials focusing on cardiovascular therapies, or on pharmacokinetic studies of novel drugs. He has published extensively in the fields of preventative cardiovascular medicine and pharmacology. His clinical work includes on-call duties in medicine at the Wollongong Hospital, where he is a member of the Drug and Therapeutics Committee, deputy chair of the joint Health Service and University Human Research Ethics Committee, and head of the GSM Professorial Unit.
Wilf has recently been appointed Deputy Director of the Illawarra Health & Medical Research Institute, a joint venture between South Eastern Sydney Area Health Service and the University of Wollongong. He is a member of the British Hypertension Society, British Pharmacological Society, and Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists. He has served as Clinical Secretary and Vice President (Clinical) of the British Pharmacological Society. Wilf is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London; Royal Society of Medicine, London; and Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
