Professor Norman Carr, Professor of Pathology, Academic Leader Phase 2

Norman Carr comes to Australia from England where he was Consultant Pathologist at Southampton General Hospital and Deputy Director of Medical Education at Southampton University School of Medicine. His special interest is pathology of the gastrointestinal tract, and he has over 30 peer-reviewed papers in this field. He is currently engaged in a collaboration with staff at the Garvan Institute in Sydney looking at serrated polyps of the large intestine. He has authored several chapters in text books of surgical pathology and two books of pathology for medical students.

Previously he has been a Royal Air Force pathologist, a pathology advisor for the UK’s National Confidential Enquiry into Perioperative Deaths, an examiner in basic sciences for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and Professor of Pathology at St Matthew’s University in the Cayman Islands. He is a member of the UICC TNM expert review panel for upper and lower gastrointestinal cancer and has reviewed papers for several medical journals.
