Elfi Ashcroft, Lecturer in Clinical Skills
Elfi Ashcroft started her career in 1987 as a Registered Nurse in Vienna, Austria. There, she completed a Certificate in Intensive Care Nursing with Distinction whilst she worked in her speciality fields of intensive care and peri-operative nursing. After a gap year, Elfi continued her career working in the United Kingdom gaining valuable experience in a range of public and private health care settings. Popular demand for foreign language teachers encouraged her to gain a formal teaching qualification and she taught German part-time up until she left to settle in Australia.
Elfi was employed as a Registered Nurse locally whilst she completed a Graduate Certificate in Nursing at the University of Wollongong. In 2001, she commenced a position as Clinical Nursing Laboratory Manager with the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Indigenous Health at the University of Wollongong. During this time, she gained considerable experience in teaching all aspects of clinical skills, simulation, curriculum development and skills centre management.
Elfi was appointed as Lecturer in Clinical Skills for the Graduate School of Medicine in November 2006. Since then, she completed a Master of Education, majoring in Higher Education, with Distinction. Her teaching encompasses a wide range of communication, examination and procedural skills taught in the clinical skills centre of the GSM.
