Background
John Flanagan is a former senior executive of BHP and has thirty five years experience in the steel industry; thirteen years in basic and applied research and twenty two years in operations and management science. During his time at BHP John was instrumental in operational systems development including inventory management, production control, quality management and computer systems.
John also has twenty years experience at the University of Wollongong in course and subject development, teaching and supervision of research students. From 1996 until he retired in 1998, John was the Director of the Logistics and Operations Management Program at the GSB. He has taught both postgraduate and undergraduate subjects including quality management, production management, quantitative methods and management for scientists.
Since retirement, John has continued his association with the GSB as an Honorary Senior Fellow and was pivotal in the development of the Master of Science (Logistics), one of the School's most successful courses.
