Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)

Duration: 3 years full-time or part-time equivalent

Location:
Wollongong (Part-time only), Sydney

Starting Sessions:
Autumn Session/Intake A

Entry Requirements:


Students will usually have good results in a masters degree, for example a Master of Business Administration. Students will also have work experience in an area relevant to their topic.

Applications must be accompanied by a 2,000 word research proposal which should outline the main focus of the applicant's research interest, a commentary on important and recent literature in this area, and a discussion of why this is an important area of research.

International applicants must also meet the University's English Language requirements as set out at http://www.uow.edu.au/prospective/international/


Course Structure:
Students take 4 coursework subjects comprising research training and advanced management theory and application. On successful completion of their coursework, students work with supervisors to complete a thesis.

The DBA is an advanced postgraduate research degree that focuses on professional business practice, providing practicing managers with research skills that can be applied to issues of organisational leadership. The course is designed to provide a framework that will enable participants to expand their knowledge in one or more business areas, drawing on the disciplinary expertise of faculties across campus. The course is designed to build on the existing strengths of the participants and provide a formal educational opportunity for them to demonstrate managerial capacities and gain a competitive advantage in business.
