Master of Management Program

Shoalhaven Campus Loftus, Batemans Bay, Bega & Moss Vale Education Centres

Overview

The management program provides an opportunity for managers to enhance their career opportunities by developing professional, personal and technical skills in key business areas. This program is designed to widen and improve skills on the complex and specific issues impacting on business performance. It assists in the development of professionally oriented managerial competencies.

The Master of Management course comprises eight subjects including four core subjects (quality, innovation, supply chain and management issues) and four elective subjects tailored to suit the individual student's background and qualifications. The structure of this program takes into account the student's individual professional development needs.

Program Delivery

The program has been designed for those who work full time. Classes are held one evening each week. Each unit is delivered over nine weeks of seminars, followed by a short break before moving onto the next subject. This allows students to concentrate on just one subject at a time and complete the program in manageable segments while still completing four units each year.

For session dates please visit the website: http://www.uow.edu.au/gsb/importantdates/index.htm

Program Options

Master of Management (MMgt)

The Master of Management degree consists of eight subjects, which may be completed part time over two years. The delivery format allows students to undertake four subjects each year.

Entry: Applicants should have a Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised tertiary institution with an average mark of at least 60%. Students with a course average lower than 60% will be required to demonstrate an adequate level of appropriate work experience.

Further Study: Units completed in this program may also be credited towards other programs offered at Wollongong Campus or Sydney Business School.

Graduate Certificate in Management (GCertMgt)

Those students who wish to complete a management development program of shorter duration, may apply to enrol in the Graduate Certificate in Management (GCertMgt). The GCertMgt consists of four subjects, usually requiring 12 months part time study.

Entry: Applicants for the GCertMgt should have managerial work experience and typically a minimum of two years equivalent full time study in a relevant discipline.

Further Study: Upon successful completion of the GCertMgt, students may apply to progress to the Masters program with credit for subjects completed under the Graduate Certificate.

Professional Development Units

Students also have the option of attending individual units purely for professional development. Students completing individual professional development units will be issued a Certificate of Participation. Those who successfully complete all assessment tasks for professional development units will be able to seek credit towards the Master of Management or Graduate Certificate in Management should they choose to continue their studies by enrolling in one of these degree programs.

Entry: Applicants should have at least five years managerial experience.
