Masters of Business Coaching

The first Master of Business Coaching course has got off to a great start at Sydney Business School. The students are from a wide range of backgrounds, including professional coaches and managers in public and private sector organisations. A joint venture with coaching company Shirlaws, the Master of Business Coaching gives students an understanding of business coaching theory and practice, and how to apply them in managing people, in developing and implementing strategy, in encouraging generation and implementation of ideas, and in managing change. Students have the opportunity to develop their business coaching skills and receive feedback from their fellow students, from practising coaches and academic staff. Students also undertake research on business coaching topics. As business coaching is a relatively new academic discipline, the skill to undertake research using rigorous methodologies is important. Students also take electives in subjects that support their future career goals. Feedback from the first cohort of students has been hugely positive and applications have already been received for the 2009 intake.
