Community Engagement Committee

Terms of Reference

The Committee is advisory to the Vice-Chancellor and shall:

  • advise on the development, monitoring and review of the University’s community engagement goals embedded in the University Strategic Plan
  • advise on community engagement priorities as detailed in an annual action plan
  • advise, where appropriate, on policies and practices relevant to community engagement activities
  • facilitate effective community engagement links between the University and our communities
  • facilitate effective community engagement links between faculties and professional units.

Membership

Shall consist of:

  • Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) (Chair)
  • Director of the Innovation Campus (Deputy Chair)
  • Manager of the Office of Community & Partnerships
  • Head of the Shoalhaven Campus
  • Manager Careers Central
  • Nominated member of Academic Senate
  • Nominated members of each UOW Faculty
  • a student member appointed by the Vice-Chancellor
  • Chair of Community Reference Group.

Members of the Committee will serve a two year term.

Each member’s role on the Committee may extend to being involved in a working party when needs arise to investigate an issue or topic in-detail and may require an additional face-to-face meeting or online feedback mechanism. Each working party will report back on outcomes to the Community Engagement Committee.

Appointments to the Community Engagement Awards & Grants sub-committee will be made from this Committee.

Meetings

The Committee will meet at least twice yearly. Meetings are scheduled by the Chair for a duration of approximately 1.5 hours. The meeting dates for 2010 are:

  • 24 March 2011
  • 28 July 2011
  • 9 September 2011
