Special Entry Options
There are a number of special entry options for current Year 12 students applying to study at UOW.
Alternative entry programs provide options for students who may have suffered disadvantage during their senior school years, or who may need additional study to prepare them for their university degree.
Bonus Points
When you apply to UOW, there are two ways you can add bonus application points. You may be eligible for both, meaning up to six bonus points.
These are separate to the Educational Access Scheme, which is for students who have experienced long-term educational disadvantage.
Local and Regional Bonus
If you are completing your HSC at a school in UOW’s local area, or in regional or remote NSW, you will receive three bonus points to your application to UOW. These bonus points are part of how UOW demonstrates its commitment to supporting students in regional, rural and remote NSW.
Read more about the Local and Regional Bonus, including a complete list of eligible high schools.
Points to UOW
With Points to UOW, you can earn up to three extra points for doing well in subjects relevant to your UOW degree. We know that if you’ve done well in relevant HSC subjects, you’ll be better prepared for university. Read more about how Points to UOW works, including a calculator to estimate how many points you’ll receive.
Early Entry
Early Entry is how you can earn a place in a Bachelor degree at UOW before you sit the HSC. It is open to Year 12 students completing the HSC and receiving an ATAR. Applicants are assessed based on their school academic record, not just the ATAR. Excellent results in relevant subjects often mean students are ready for university study.
Successful applicants can receive either:
- A guaranteed offer of a place at UOW.
- A conditional offer of a place at UOW. This means you will earn a place at UOW if you meet certain conditions—typically, achieving a certain grade in relevant HSC subjects.
