Our postgraduate coursework programs allow you to tailor your qualification to a specific area of interest. You can develop your expertise in a particular discipline or you can change your career direction.

Campus life

UOW’s main campus lies at the foothills of Mt Keira between a rainforest escarpment and the Pacific Ocean. Respecting the natural environment was integral to the award-winning campus design, with native gardens and streams abounding in birdlife. The Duck Pond Lawn is a central gathering place for work and play—you can lie in the sun and study using the campus-wide wireless internet, or simply listen to a live band on the outdoor surround-sound system. Markets, information stalls and displays all add to the atmosphere.

You’ll find everything you need from cafés, restaurants, bars and a cinema to banks, a hairdresser, travel agent, post office and state-of-the-art gym, aquatic centre, playing fields and courts. And it’s all conveniently located in the central hub of UOW.

There are also plenty of quiet places. Our modern library is an open and relaxing study space with flexible facilities and services to help you learn.

For a closer look at the campus come and check it out in person. Call 1300 367 869 to book your personalised campus tour.

Dynamic learning

As a UOW student, you will not only have access to state-of-the-art facilities, you will also enjoy close interaction—and two-way communication—with your tutors and lecturers.

Class sizes are small, so your teacher will know your name. Your teachers are highly qualified and not only great at teaching—they are experts in their field. If you study Journalism or Media, you’ll be taught by journalists who can give you real-life knowledge about working in the media.

…You’ll learn from French historians, Japanese linguists, political philosophers, lawyers, Triple J film reviewers…

Our academic community has strong links with industry and business, which means we are up to date with the latest global trends and needs. Our opinions are sought globally on wide-ranging topics and each of our faculties offers unique opportunities to connect you with industry and employers.

You can also enhance your degree at one of more than 100 universities worldwide; with leadership programs; or on career-enhancing internships.

Lifestyle

Lifestyle is almost as important as study at university, and at UOW we offer the best of both worlds.

Wollongong is one of Australia’s biggest cities and it’s bordered by a long stretch of beaches –perfect for study or a study break!

There are also many opportunities in which to immerse yourself on campus. Clubs can be social (M-Society, Law Students' Society), selfless (Amnesty International, Oxfam) or athletic. There’s something for everyone, but if you find a gap you can create your own club. Check out all of our clubs and societies.

If you're into art, you’ll relish the University Art Collection (on the walls of many of our buildings around campus), our regular exhibitions of local and international artists in the University Galleries, and the highly anticipated Graduation Exhibition held each year by final-year Art and Design students.

For food and drink, you’re spoilt for choice with a gourmet restaurant, cafés, food courts and the UniBar.

Film buffs will love UniMovies, which shows a double-bill of new-release movies each Wednesday night at student-friendly prices.

Take a yoga class or try one of the many other value-for-money healthy lifestyle options at the Recreation and Aquatic Centre. There's a full range of indoor and outdoor facilities, a multitude of sports clubs (both competitive and social) and a variety of leisure and adventure activities.

And there is plenty to keep you entertained by night. Wollongong’s after-dark scene reflects the city’s diverse community and coastal lifestyle. On-campus, the UniBar, which has won numerous architecture awards, attracts the best of the Australian music scene, and has recently hosted British India, Muscles, Pnau and Faker.
