Innovation 

UOW is involved in many diverse research and development projects, and is a major partner in Wollongong’s Innovation Campus, a research, development and technology facility that will help secure the city’s future as a centre for excellence in information technology and telecommunications.

We are a pioneer in intelligent polymer research with strategic links and alliances around the globe, and are leading the way in crime prevention with funding to establish a Global Centre of Excellence in Transnational Crime Prevention.

Our Graduate School of Medicine—opened in 2007—is helping redress the critical shortage of doctors in regional and rural Australia.

Facilities 

Students have access to computer laboratories, an award-winning library (24-hour access), a statistical consulting service (applied statistics is available to students undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy or Masters degree) and modern faculty facilities.

Support & Services 

Wollongong residents benefit from a lower cost of living and easy access to both Sydney and Canberra via freeways and electric train.

Childcare Facilities, with qualified early childhood staff, are available through UniCentre Children’s Services. Two day-care centres are open 51 weeks of the year, catering for children aged six weeks to five years. Out-of-school-hours and holiday care is also available for children aged five to 12 years. 

Wollongong UniCentre offers a variety of services including cafés, restaurants, bar, conference facilities, bank, bookshop, post office, travel agency, dry cleaner, hairdresser and medical services. You can also use the world-class Recreation and Aquatic Centre and join a range of clubs and societies—social, sporting, cultural or humanitarian.
