10 reasons why students love studying at UOW
Aside from the fact you get to learn from industry-leading researchers in top-notch facilities – here are 10 reasons why students love UOW.
The whole idea of uni is to study something you’re passionate about and turn it into a career. This doesn’t just happen in a classroom. It happens through good teachers, through gaining as much experience as you can while you’re studying and through taking opportunities when they come. While UOW has all services and support to help you achieve those things and become a career-ready graduate, sometimes it’s those little extras that really make a difference to your uni lifestyle. Students don’t just study at UOW, they enjoy it… and here’s why.
1. The coffee is good
There are eight cafes on campus, so you will find good coffee and something delicious to eat. No one can learn anything on an empty stomach.
2. There are always cool things happening
Because laughter is the best motivation booster.

3. Student wellbeing is right up there
Neck cramps? No worries, stretch it out with some Yoga and Yoghurt. Lost track of time last night binge-watching TV? Catch up on some much needed rest in the sleep pods. These things and many more are all part of Student life. (And why students give UOW a five star satisfaction rating).
4. Ducks… Ducks everywhere
They wander from the grass, to the pond and into Subway for your daily dose of cuteness. PRO TIP: Don’t be fooled, they will come after your food. #ducksofUOW
5. Sounds for the soul
Music lovers are sorted with more than 180 live acts on campus every year from international artists through to talented students.
6. Pool parties
Not many unis can put on O-Week activities like UOW. The Olympic-sized pool is not just for relaxing on inflatable flamingos, it’s also a pretty good place to play underwater hockey or do some exercise.
7. It’s a great uni community
More than 30,000 students are enrolled at the University representing 160 nationalities. Each person, from varying cultures and backgrounds, helps enrich the uni community with their different interests and passions. Plus, there are more than 120 Clubs and Societies to cater for everyone.

8. There’s an entire sporting complex on campus
There is literally a gym, indoor courts, sporting ovals, a swimming pool and more than 100 group exercise classes each week on campus at the University Recreational and Aquatic Centre (URAC). There are also 60 student sporting teams you can join.
9. You’re surrounded by nature
You can literally download a map and take self-guided a tree walk through the Eucalypts and the Rainforest... because the campus is that big and beautiful. Even the animals can’t stay away.
10. You can even do your groceries between classes
Forget about stopping for milk and bread on the way home, the IGA supermarket on campus has got you sorted.
