The University of Wollongong offers internationally recognised courses at several undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Please read more about UOW’s courses below.
Undergraduate
Bachelor degree (3-4 years): For students who are undertaking their first degree, and have completed the equivalent of 13 years of school. The content is specific to the degree from the first session of study.
Some degrees may allow a double-major within a single degree, for example a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing & Economics) or a Bachelor of Arts (History & Politics).
An Honours degree will take four years to complete. UOW also offers professional four-year degrees, including psychology; exercise science and rehabilitation; and nutrition and dietetics. Double degrees (two degrees) take up to five-and-a-half years to complete. Go to CourseFinder and click on ‘UNDERGRADUATE’.

Postgraduate coursework
The majority of the Masters degree consists of coursework subjects in a particular discipline or professional area.
Masters (1-2 years): For students who have a recognised Bachelor degree in the same discipline. Some Masters degrees are open to students with a Bachelor degree in any major, subject to meeting the entry requirements. Go to CourseFinder and click on ‘POSTGRADUATE’
Graduate Diploma (1 year) and Graduate Certificate (6 months): For students who may have academic qualifications and professional experience other than a Bachelor degree. May lead to entry into a Masters degree. Go to CourseFinder and click on ‘POSTGRADUATE’
Postgraduate research
No more than one-third of the PhD or Masters by research degree is coursework. Students submit a written thesis that makes a contribution to a body of knowledge and demonstrates the capacity to conduct independent research.
Entry requirements vary; a Bachelor degree with Honour Class II Division 2 or higher, or equivalent is generally accepted. Students should first determine their field of study and then find the faculty or academic unit that conducts research in that area.
PhD (3 years): A thesis of in-depth research that makes an original contribution to the body of knowledge in a specific discipline.
Professional Doctorate (3 years): A thesis and approved study that may include coursework, practical work and/or performance. Up to one-third of the course may be a structured program of study.
Masters by research (1-2 years): Provides specialised research training for those preparing for a career in academia, government or industry.
