| Professor Shi Xue Dou Professor Dou is an Australian Professorial Fellow at the Faculty of Engineering, UoW. He is also the Director of the Institute for Superconducting and Electronic Materials (ISEM), an interdisciplinary centre with 6 research programs, 35 staff (including 12 ARC fellows), 40 postgraduate students and 10 visiting fellows. He was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering in 1994. He was awarded a PhD for his work on solid state electrolyte for fuel cells and oxygen sensors at Dalhousie University, Canada in 1984 and DSc for his published work on high temperature superconductivity by the University of New South Wales in 1998. He was awarded ARC Senior Research fellowship in 1993, ARC Australian Professorial Fellowship in 2002 and 2007 respectively. His achievements were recognised by the award of the Australian Government’s Centenary Medal for service to Australian Society in materials science and engineering in 2003, Engineering Excellence Award in 2006 and Vice-Chancellor Senior Researcher Excellence Award in 2008. | Professor Chao Zhang Professor Zhang is a physicist working on theory and computation in condensed matter physics, materials and optoelectronics. He performed pioneering work in magnetotransport in nanostructures, collective excitations and nonlinear dynamics in mesoscopic systems. | Dr Germanas Peleckis Dr Peleckis joined ISEM in March 2004 as PhD student working on Oxide Spintronic Materials and successfully graduated in July 2007. Before graduating, Dr Peleckis worked with Professor Dou as his assistant and still does to this date. Dr Peleckis has been formally employed in ISEM as a Research Fellow since 2007, in the same year being awarded an ARC Discovery project “Development of high performance thermoelectric oxides for high temperature power generation” with funding from 2008-2010. Dr Peleckis is also highly involved in equipment supervision, student training and has published more than 20 papers in various international journals.
