What is the Current Expertise

Measurement techniques for flow properties of bulk solids (dry and wet)

Software development for processing flow property data and determining the geometry of storage bins

Prediction of the flow rate of bulk solids (including fine powders) from bins

Developing techniques for predicting the loads exerted on the walls of storage bins

Design and operation of bin dischargers and feeders (e.g. live-bottom bins, screws, belts)
Measuring and predicting loads exerted on feeders under hoppers - special consideration being given to interfacing hoppers to feeders including the geometry of skirts and gates
Design and operation of gravity chutes and conveyor transfer points
Assessing the performance of modern hopper configurations (e.g. Diamondback)
Analysis of flow promotion devices at hopper outlets
Pneumatic transport of bulk materials, including over long distances and/or at low velocities - special attention being given to the development of design procedures, scale-up rules, new hardware, bend geometries, stepped pipelines and computer software
Design and analysis of air-assisted gravity conveyors
Powder fluidisation, deaeration and settling
Design and analysis of unstirred slurry, backfill and settlement tanks
Segregation and mixing of bulk solids
