The Car

The UOW FSAE vehicle is a small, lightweight open wheeled racing car developed entirely by the student team members. The rules set forth by the SAE allow design flexibility within all systems on the car, however there is a number of restrictions such as a maximum engine capacity of 610cc and a minimum wheelbase which define the size of the car. The specifications of the most recent and previous UOW FSAE vehicles are shown below

 

2008 – ‘Frank’

eng - FSAE - Frank 3

One of the lightest turbocharged, 4 cylinder steel space frames ever made. Weighing in at 188kg, the 2008 vehicle has set a standard for the team to continue to produce this lightweight platform. The car competed well in a number of events, however suspension failures in the endurance event did not allow any points to be scored in the 400 point event.
