Geant4 School
11-12-13 April 2011
The school consists of three days of lectures and hands-on sessions, where students will get confident with Geant4 and will learn how to develop a Geant4 based application.
The agenda of the school for delegates is available here. The agenda for the UOW PHYS366/PHYS952 is available here.
Short CVs of lecturers are here.
The hands-on sessions will consist of a series of informal seminars and structured exercises during which students will learn to develop a Geant4 based dosimetric system for brachytherapy. Although this Geant4 application is in the domain of medical physics, the basic concepts will be covered in a sufficiently general way such that students will learn how to develop any Geant4 application of interest.
The course is addressed to undergraduate/postgraduate students with previous knowledge of radiation physics and basic knowledge of scientific computing, to researchers and medical physicists, interested in the use of Geant4.
Requirements to attend the Geant4 School
Attendees of the Geant4 School should bring a Wi-Fi capable laptop with internet connection protocols such as Xming and SSH. If any student does NOT have access to a personal laptop, they should contact Dean Cutajar (deanc@uow.edu.au) to make alternative arrangements. Students will connect remotely to the CMRP cluster where Geant4 will be installed and ready to use.
Geant4 User Workshop
14-15-16 April 2011
The goal of this workshop is to discuss Geant4 capability for radiation physics, to discuss Geant4-based research, to receive feedback from Geant4 experts, to benchmark Geant4 accuracy with respect to experimental and reference data, to create a network of Geant4 Users in Australia and New Zealand, to enhance collaboration between Australia and other Countries.
Topics of the Geant4 user workshop: radiotherapy, hadrontherapy, brachytherapy, IMRT, MRT, medical imaging, radiation protection, radiation detector optimisation, space science studies, radiation monitoring, High Energy Physics experiments. Particular attention will be devoted to dosimetry, microdosimetry, nanodosimetry and to the use of Geant4 as Monte Carlo tool to study radiation detectors. Validation of Geant4 physics models will be also an important topic.
The agenda of the workshop can be downloaded from here.
