Are you interested in computers and how they are used to control the physical world around us? Would you like to learn about robots, software engineering, intelligent manufacturing, digital electronics and computer control.

Then Mechatronic Engineering is the course for you

Mechatronic Engineering is the combination of Mechanical, Electrical and Computer technologies. It is a relatively new field of engineering with many exciting developments such as internet control of machines, autonomous robots and engine management systems. There is, and will continue to be, a strong demand for engineers who are capable of designing, implementing and operating these systems to meet an increasing need in industry where complexity of projects is done with limited resources.

Entry Requirements

Assumed knowledge:

2U - English and 2U and/or 3U Maths or equivalent

Recommended Study:

Physics, Chemistry or at least 2U Maths

Students with no previous knowledge of Physics or Chemistry are advised to enrol in bridging courses held on Campus

UAI:

80 standard entry

Students with a UAI of at least 93+ qualify for the Scholars program and students with less than 80 can apply through the Opportunity Program.

The undergraduate Mechatronics course at the University of Wollongong has been specifically designed to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge in rapidly developing fields such as digital electronics, manufacturing, information technology and robotics. The course includes substantial trianing in design techniques to prepare you for an exciting career in this emerging field of engineering.

The highlight of the course will be your final year project in which you will apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the previous years to solve a real-life mechatronic problems. This could be carried out in one of our research laboratories or in industry.

Our teaching and research staff are actively involved in numerous industrial mechatronics projects in partnership wiht local and international companies.

When you graduate as a professional Mechatronic Engineer from the University of Wollongong, you will have the communication, management and team-working skills, as well as the technical and creative know-how needed to achieve the best possible engineering career paths.
