Student Events Policy

The Faculty of Engineering wants students to have fun, safe and trouble-free events.
The procdures and guidelines below are intended to help event organisers to meet their duty-of-care obligations as easily as possible.

Stage 1

At least 2 weeks before your planned event, pick up the following documents from the EEC:

  •  Function Procedure for Student Events - pdf version [22 kb]
  •  Risk Assessment and Approval Form, with Risk Criteria Table - pdf version [54 kb]
  •  Guidelines for a Trouble-free Event - pdf version [23 kb]
  •  Safe Food Handling - pdf version [22 kb]

Stage 2

Plan your event and complete the Risk Assessment, using the Risk Criteria Table. If the overall risk is medium-high, change aspects of your event to reduce the overall risk.

Return the Risk Assessment and Approval Form, and the associated Risk Criteria Table, for approval to either the Dean or Sub-Dean, at least 1 week before your planned event. These documents will be kept on file in the EEC.

Stage 3

Follow the requirements in the Function Procedure for Student Events document, and enjoy a fun, safe and trouble-free event.
