The Faculty of Engineering prides itself as being one of the finest engineering schools in Australia and this is affirmed by its admission to the Group of Eight Deans of Engineering (Go8) and Associates. The Group is comprised of the eight engineering faculties and schools of the Go8 universities plus the associates of the engineering faculties of the Universitiy of Wollongong and one other.

Within this prestigious group UOW’s Faculty of Engineering distinguishes itself in the following ways:
• Graduates from the Faculty of Engineering at UOW have enjoyed employment rates well above the national average for many years—in 2006 independent surveys showed we had 100% employment within Civil, Mechanical and Mining Engineering.
• Our Faculty has always worked very closely with Industry, and Industry funding assists nearly all our research work. Our students are taught by staff who are practising engineers, and throughout your degree you’ll have many opportunities to visit some of the most important industrial sites in the country.
• We are known as one of Australia’s most research-intensive engineering Faculties; and the world-leading researchers making this happen bring their expertise to our classrooms.
• As a UOW Engineering student, you’ll have the opportunity to work in our very well equipped laboratories and workshops involved in the practical engineering that is essential to the development of your skills, and this experience is highly valued by employers.
• At UOW we are where the action is! Students are encouraged to join a club or society, play lunchtime sports, see the world through international exchange and make the most of their university experience. One example of how you can do this is the Faculty’s SAE racing car—managed and built entirely by students, the car has won or been in the top 3 of Australia’s Formula SAE championships every year it has entered. It was also the first non-American entry ever to win the international SAE championship held in the US.
