Alumni Mentored Interviews

Each year, the Alumni Mentored Interviews are offered to final year Education students to assist in preparation for the DEC  Graduate Recruitment Program interview. School Executives volunteer their time to take each student through a one-to-one interview situation with questions about their philosophy of education and suggestions for enhancing their responses.

The interviews are COMPULSORY for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Primary Education and Bachelor of Physical and Health Education. Interviews are also organised for students enrolled in the following programs:

  • Graduate Diploma in Education
  • Bachelor of Science Education
  • Bachelor of Mathematics Education

How and When to Register for your Alumni Mentored Interview for 2013

Students will need to access the following subjects via the SOLS Tutorial Enrolment system to regsiter for an interview:

1)  Access the subject listed for your degree via the SOLS Online Tutorial Enrolment system;
2)  Select ONE of the interview timeslots: 9am, 9:30am, 10am, 11am, 11:30am, 12noon, 1:00pm & 1:30pm. 

Important points to note:

  • To register for an interview, you must be enrolled in the subject before the system opens;
  • You can register for an interview even if you have a 'provisional' enrolment status; 
  • The online system operates on a 'first-in basis'.

 

Preparing for the Interviews

Before your Mentored Interview, collect your thoughts and prepare as you would for your Graduate Recruitment Program DEC interview. Dress should be professional - neat and conservative. On the day, arrive at least ten minutes before your scheduled time and sign on at the door You do not need to bring any documentation for this interview, but may wish to take some notes as no written feedback can be given.
