Narottam Bhindi
Summary
Narottam Bhindi is the Director of the Australian Centre for Educational
Leadership.
He has had an outstanding international career and was educated in
Wellington, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and Bombay. He is fluent in
seven languages including the Solomon Islands Pijin. He has built a
strong reputation as an academic, administrator and management educator.
Before joining the University of Wollongong in July 2002, Narottam
served as the Head of Department; Head of School of Administrative,
Adult and Higher Education Studies; and Head of School of Professional
Development and Leadership for 6.5 years at the University of New England.
He also taught and coordinated the postgraduate program in educational
management at Brunei University for two years and served as the Director
of the Institute of Education at the University of the South Pacific,
where he previously worked as Senior Assistant Registrar. Before embarking
on his university career, Narottam was the Principal of Bulileka Secondary
School in Labasa.
With Professor Patrick Duignan of the Australian Catholic University,
Narottam has researched authentic leadership. He has researched Spirituality
in Leadership with Professor Rod Gerber and Dr Dan Riley at the University
of New England. With Dr Julie Kiggins and Associate Professor Brian
Cambourne, from the University of Wollongong, he will launch a research
study on teacher mentoring in NSW.
He obtained his PhD from the University of Queensland, Master of Educational
Administration from the University of New England, Bachelor of Arts
(Honours) from Bombay University and Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology
from the University of the South Pacific.
He is a Fellow of the Australian Council for Educational Administration
and of the Queensland Institute of Educational Administration.
