2005 International Conference
Developing Tomorrows Leaders
The Fourth Annual International Conference on Educational Leadership took
place on the 18th and 19th of February 2005 at the Wollongong Campus of the
University of Wollongong. The Conference was cosponsored by the NSW Department
of Education and Training, the Catholic Diocese of Wollongong, and The University
of Wollongong Faculty of Education. More than 300 participants attended. Click

The theme of the 2005 Conference was Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders,
which acknowledged the strategic and critical importance of developing new
leaders in a rapidly changing, turbulent, diverse, and complex environment.
Future leaders need to be even more competent, enthusiastic, optimistic, and
versatile. They must be attuned to the future; possess knowledge about current
issues, accountabilities, and dilemmas confronting their workplaces; and be
capable of leading and managing change and creating opportunities for improvement
and renewal. Click here to view slides from the presentations delivered
at the conference.
The participants in the conference included school leaders, teachers, school
leadership teams, systemic administrators from the government and non-government
education systems, trainers and management educators, and university academics.
The 2005 Conference Keynote speakers included Dr Myron Rogers (USA), Prof.
Jenny Gore (Newcastle), Prof. Geoff Scott (University of Western Sydney), Prof.
Steve Dinham (University of New England), and Dr Colleen Chesterman (University
of Technology, Sydney). Click here to view the conference program.
