Accessing Your Postgraduate Subject Materials Using Janison.

The platform used to deliver postgraduate on-line subjects in the Faculty of Education is called Janison.

You need to be formally enrolled in the subject, in the correct session, to be able to access the Janison site for that subject.

Janison sites become Active the weekend before teaching starts, you will not be able to access the correct Janison site before this.

The steps for accessing the subject material are as follows:

1. From University Home page: http://www.uow.edu.au go to Faculties, then to the Faculty of Education. http://www.uow.edu.au/educ/

2. On Faculty of Education Home page under the Heading Quick Links at the bottom of the page go to Janison logon.

At the Janison page, you will find a User guide and also how to get support if

you are unable to access the site.

3. In the next page: http://www.uow.edu.au/educ/janison/ use your university login and password.

4. Your subjects for 2012 will be on the left hand banner.

5. Click on the required subject and read the welcome

6. Download the subject outline and read this, and follow the instructions from there.

Encountering Problems with Your Course?

Please contact the following:

Problems accessing your subject ?

1. Check you have a current UOW userid and active password by trying to sign into SOLS

If you can’t sign into sols, you need to contact ITS to reset your password (see below)

2. Check you are enrolled in the correct subject, and subject instance.(ie correct session, and flexible or distance delivery)

If this is not correct, amend your enrolment through sols. Janison synchronises overnight with the student enrolment system, so you will not have access to the Janison site until the following day.

3. If this is correct and you still have problems, contact the Janison support team:

Contacting ITS

If you have a problem with your UOW user id or password, you will need to contact the University's ITS. There are guides and information under the Manage User Account link under the SOLS login boxes. (http://www.uow.edu.au/student/it/index.html)

If you are physically on campus call into ITS on level 1 of Building 17.

If you are unable to come on campus and are a distance student you need to contact its@uow.edu.au. Your password can be reset via email, if you can provide ITS with the following details to confirm your id as a student. As much as possible of the following information must be provided:

·     Full Name

·     User ID

·     Student number

·     Barcode number from student card– If available

·     Address registered with the uni

·     The course you are enrolled in

You can still login to SOLS (minus elearning) with your student card details by following this link http://www.uow.edu.au/student/UOW008811.html

Your password will be reset to your date of birth. You can enter this in the following format ddmmmyy.

Example: If your date of birth is 15 July 1984, then your password would be 15jul84

It is recommended that you now change your password and set up a “password reset challenge” which will enable you to reset your own password in the future. You will find these options under Manage Password at  http://www.uow.edu.au/student/it/myaccount/index.html
