A Career in TESOL

TESOL The Postgraduate Program

Useful Information

Forms and Contacts

Do you want to teach English internationally?
Do you want to teach English to refugees and migrants?
Do you want a teaching specialisation in TESOL?

You can study on campus surrounded by rainforest, mountains and beaches (virtual tour) or have the convenience of studying in your own place and time by distance. The TESOL Program offers highly regarded, relevant, internationally-recognised courses from entry-level through to doctoral studies.

You can enrol in the Graduate Diploma in TESOL if you have an undergraduate degree. The Grad. Dip. TESOL is an accredited specialist TESOL qualification providing a mixture of theory and practical application.

The Graduate Certificate in TESOL assumes an undergraduate background and some practical classroom experience or qualification. Like the Grad. Dip. it provides the formal theoretical component along with supervised practicum experience required in a formal accredited TESOL qualification.

The Master of Education (TESOL) provides a strong theoretical foundation for those wanting to make TESOL their profession. The program is firmly grounded in classroom practice and is designed for those with teaching background and experience.

There is also a very active research program if you are interested in undertaking doctoral studies to further enhance your professional practice or to gain a tertiary position in the TESOL field.

 TESOL is a growing field internationally and in Australia. Our graduates work:

  • in TAFE, ELICOS Colleges (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) AMEP (Adult Migrant Education Program), Community Colleges and other adult education institutions;
  • as TESOL specialist teachers in government and non-government primary and secondary schools;
  • in tertiary English centres and preparation courses in Australia and internationally
