Slow Animation being tested as new teaching approachAug 8, 2005 A Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Wollongong has developed a new teaching approach called Slow Animation. Dr Garry Hoban, recently hosted a visit of 15 teachers from the Illawarra, five academics from UOW and two academics from Monash Univesity to learn about the new teaching approach. Slow Animation is a simplified version of Clay Animation (re Harvey Krumpet and Chicken Run) that possibly has widespread application for teaching in schools and universities. Dr Hoban said the program has been tested extensively in university classes and the purpose of the recent visit by teachers and academics was to start it off in schools. It is a funded pilot study as a forerunner to an Australian Research Council grant on the use of animation for student learning.
