Associate Professor Ian Brown has been invited with colleagues from UTS and RMIT to lead a visual literacy and new media summit in San Jose. As a result of recent research collaboration, Adobe Systems, working with the George Lucas Educational Foundation (GLEF) and the New Media Consortium (NMC) is convening a "summit" of thought leaders in visual, aural and digital literacy in the spring of 2005.

The summit will articulate broad-scale priorities for the areas where these spheres converge, and develop an action list of recommendations to meet those priorities. Experts in the area of visual literacy, from across the world are being hosted by Adobe to attend the meeting, to be hosted by Adobe Systems at their headquarters in San Jose, California, April 26-28, 2005 It is hoped the summit will provide a setting for the group to engage in a substantive dialog around emerging trends and issues related to this convergence.
