This may be due to a memory limitation of your computer or your printer. Many of the eReadings files are very large (2-3mb) and displaying or printing them may require a fast computer and printer, both with a lot of memory.
If you have this problem frequently, you might:
ask your lecturer to provide the reading on paper
expand the memory of your computer
read or print the document somewhere else, where a better computer/printer is available
In any case, you should let your lecturer know that you are having problems; they won't be aware that something needs to be fixed if you don't tell them it's broken.
