How to Apply for the Graduate Diploma in Education

Step 1 - Check your eligibility - FORMAL ASSESSMENT REQUEST

Complete and submit a Formal Assessment Request Form (including supporting documentation) to the Faculty of Education by 30 June to determine whether you meet the NSWIT entry requirements.

We will assess your undergraduate study (and appropriate postgraduate study) based on NSWIT Subject Content Requirements and issue you with a Letter of Formal Assessment within 20 working days via email.

Once you have received the Letter of Formal Assessment advising that you satisfy the NSWIT entry requirements, you may apply for entry to the course (go to Step 2).

Step 2 - Submit an application for entry to the Graduate Diploma in Education

The Postgraduate Coursework Application can be downloaded and submitted to UniAdvice (contact details are provided on the application form), or you may choose to apply online.  Your application must be received by UniAdvice by 30 September.

Your Postgraduate Coursework Application will need to include the following documents:

1. A copy of the Letter of Formal Assessment received (via email) from the Faculty of Education;
2. A statement outlining your teaching philosophy.  This should include previous related experience, for example, coaching a sporting team, teaching scripture, mentoring, tutoring or training in the work place (maximum of 1 page);
3. Evidence of completing any additional subjects outlined in the Letter of Formal Assessment; and
4. A certified copy of your Transcript. UOW graduates may submit a copy of their UOW Enrolment Record.

Your application will be assessed against criteria set by the Faculty of Education.

You must hold a completed Bachelor degree prior to commencing the Graduate Diploma of Education, or at least show evidence that you will satisfy the requirements for the award of the degree prior to the commencement of the course.
