An in-memoriam gift allows you to honour your loved one by establishing a fund which family and friends may contribute to in their memory. You select the area of research or academic endeavour the gift will support. You may wish to establish a scholarship or award named in memory of your loved one.
UOW has been the fortunate recipient of a number of in-memoriam gifts, including the Gay Bates Memorial Fund and the Robert East Memorial Fund. Gifts in memory of these compassionate individuals are currently helping medical research into cancer. Another wonderful example of in-memoriam giving is the Marie Lewis Award. This prize honours the late Marie Lewis, a long standing staff member and graduate of UOW. The annual prize recognises academic achievement and service amongst staff at UOW.
A rock solid investment
Professor Worner was a significant member of the UOW community and a noted philanthropist. In 2000, he donated his valuable mineral and rock collection to the University.
The Howard Worner Memorial Scholarship Fund will preserve Professor Worner’s legacy and the fund will recognise Professor Worner’s rural origins, his contributions to the scientific community and his passion for new challenges.
UOW enrols a high proportion of students from rural and isolated areas. The Howard Worner Memorial Scholarship Fund will provide scholarships for students from a rural background studying Science or Engineering at UOW. It will encourage recipients to draw upon Professor Worner’s ideals and achievements as guidance for their own development. Donate now
