Community Support

Community-minded organisations, city councils and community groups, such as the Rotary, Lions and Quota clubs have made a huge impact on students and researchers at UOW.

Community sponsors support the academic endeavours of students from their local community, particularly those who have made a significant community contribution or for whom University would otherwise be inaccessible, whether due to financial constraints, disability, living in a rural or isolated area or other forms of disadvantage. Community organisations also help with vital research to develop solutions to community-wide health, social or environmental issues.

COMMUNITY SPONSOR PROFILES

URAC

“The University Recreation and Aquatic Centre (URAC) benefits in a variety of ways through its sponsorship of Sporting Scholarships. In keeping with our mission, URAC sees elite athletes achieve their potential while receiving quality education which will support the beyond their sporting careers. Our sports programs are enhanced when some of our elite scholarship holders compete at the highest levels in Australia. This create kudos and a profile for our sports programs, which in turn reinforces the need for and availability of sports programs as a means of being active, healthy and having fun. And importantly, recipients benefit by having URAC, and the National Australia Bank bear some of the investment costs associated with training and competing at the highest levels.”
