2009 Annual Fund

In 2008 UOW alumni donated over $40,000 to help secure a brighter future for the thousands of Australian men and women battling with cancer and to support young people who struggle to meet the costs and commitments associated with University study.

In 2009 we again need your support for the Research and Innovation Fund and the Learning and Development Fund to play a part in the fight against cancer and to help students in need. This year we are also seeking support for a new initiative - the Healthy Communities Fund which has been established to provide support for projects that strengthen the health of our communities and improve quality of life.

You can support these vital initiatives by donating now.

CANCER RESEARCH

Our commitment to community relevant research continues in 2009 as we again seek support for cancer research at the University.

Generous donations in previous years has assisted our researchers in their work to improve treatments for cancer sufferers, which has achieved significant success by helping doctors more effectively target and destroy cancerous cells through the use of radiation and chemotherapy.

This vital research continues the development of treatments to help to improve outcomes for the thousands of Australians diagnosed with cancer each year and make their treatment simple pain free procedures.

The Research and Innovation Fund helps UOW researchers find solutions to real problems and work on projects that really make a difference to individuals, our region, the nation and the international community. Read more about UOW research.

STUDENTS IN NEED

The Learning and Development Fund enables capable and determined young minds to achieve in their work and studies. Support from the community inspires our students as they explore, share and apply knowledge to advance our community. In 2009 the UOW Learning and Development Fund will ensure more students have the chance to access and make the most of their higher education.

The Learning and Development Fund provides opportunities and support for students. Read more about the Learning and Development Fund.

THE SPORTS HUB SEATING

As part of the Healthy Communities Fund this year we are seeking support to provide seating in our newly established Sports Hub. This facility will be available for the entire community to access. UOW is committed to the area of health and this is demonstrated through our areas of research and initiatives to promote healthy lifestyles. One of the most important aspects of health is physical activity. We want to encourage this at all ages and as such the Sports Hub will be open for local sporting events for all ages and levels of competition. To help the Hub become a functioning sports venue we need retractable seating for the area.
