Dean's Welcome
Dean: Professor Amanda Lawson
The Faculty of Creative Arts has established an international reputation over the past 25 years attracting eminent arts practitioners to our teaching staff and talented students to our courses. Whether you study creative writing, performance, sound design and composition, visual arts, graphic design and new media, or journalism, you will benefit from the Faculty's flourishing relationships with diverse practitioners, cultural organisations and teaching institutions in Australia and abroad.
We aim to provide a supportive and reflective environment that helps our students develop technical skill and artistic insight within programs that encourage interaction between disciplines. Further, we expect a thorough academic preparation and achievement from all our graduates.
Our teaching staff are all practising professionals or scholars whose work is widely recognised. They value, promote and develop individual differences and encourage an appreciation for cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural work with opportunities for students to be involved in collaborative performances, exhibitions and projects.
The Faculty's modern studios, performance spaces and galleries provide an inspiring work environment for showcasing the work of students as well as hosting Australian and international exhibitions and performances. The campus environment and general facilities at the University are exceptional and positioned within a region of great natural beauty.
Your studies within the Faculty of Creative Arts at the University of Wollongong will balance theoretical, historical and artistic perspectives with up-to-date skills acquisition and professional development. Add to this the unique physical environment of the region with its amazing combination of cliff lines and coast and it is hard to imagine a more lively or stimulating environment for the creation and study of new artistic work in Australia.
