"Portrait of Ken McKinnon" is hung appropriately enough in Building 67, "The McKinnon Building". More formal than the portrait of Bert Flugelman the portrait is a good likeness of the previous Vice-Chancellor, the first to recognise the need to develop the University of Wollongong Art Collection and to create the Directors position in the early 1980's. McKinnon was Vice-Chancellor, University of Wollongong 1981-1995

While the grass hut in the background may be seen as referring to Warren's shack in the Jamberoo rainforest, it is primarily used as a symbolic reference to the years McKinnon spent in New Guinea where he was involved in teaching, finally becoming Director of Secondary School Education.
