An original musical performance using mobile phones - The Pocket Gamelan Performance Ensemble directed by Janys Hayes, playing Greg Schiemer's Mandala 3 and Mandala 4. The performance is of 30 minutes duration. University Recreation and Aquatic Centre, UOW.

There will be three presentations of this innovative musical performance using mobile phones. The first and last will be held at the University Recreation and Aquatic Centre from 5.30pm on the Tuesday 9th and Thursday 11th of May. Both performances are free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend - no booking required.

The second will be an evening performance at 7.00pm scheduled in conjunction with Sonic Connections 2006 on Wednesday 10th May. Sonic Connections is an annual event celebrating new music, new musical instrument design and new tuning systems. The festival offers a full day of informative events, concerts and refreshment. This year’s festivities include a recital by distinguished sitarist and Indian music scholar, Dr Suvarnalata Rao, from the National Centre for Performing Arts, Mumbai.
