A WAY OF REMEMBERING
An exhibition of artist’s books, water colours & prints
23 July – 14 August 2009
Artist Statement:
The works in this exhibition represent my responses to many of the physical and mental spaces that I have ‘lived’ in. They explore ideas that have been important to me such as the unseen and unspoken, environmental issues and Aboriginal reconciliation. As an inveterate traveller, I also record my observations of place both in Australia and overseas in book form or prints. Travelling removes us from the familiar and introduces us to the new. Responses are heightened. Undiluted by daily preoccupations, we can start the process of writing, recording and absorbing. These works fall into different catagories such as journals, artist’s books, and prints which sometimes talk about the same idea/place but approach it in different ways using different media.
