From 18 September to 7 October, the Faculty of Creative Arts will participate in an international exchange exhibition with Canada.
an artistic exchange between the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere! Art from the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies, University of British Columbia Okanagan - Canada, will interchange with works from the Faculty of Creative Arts, University of Wollongong Australia this month. Staff from the Department of Creative Studies at UBCO and the School of Art & Design at UOW have exchanged exhibitions of artwork for display at opposite ends of the globe. The Exhibition theme:
To cause (one thing) to change places with another; transpose
The sand that flows from one hemisphere to the other is, by analogy, the interchange of art and ideas between the exhibition participants and the audience. It is also a metaphor, or perhaps a riddle, for transformation; and like the philosophical colloquialism, is the glass half empty, or half full? is relative to the formative argument or idea.
These dual exhibitions result from the collaboration of UOW Lecturer Jelle Van Den Berg and UBCO Associate Professor Gary Pearson. Both exhibits feature a variety of artistic expression in methods including photography, painting, prints, etchings, monoprints, mixed media, and bookwork.
