1/4_inch.
An evening of audio and visual performance.
Thursday, 26 May 2005 @ 7.30pm
In the FCA Gallery
The first of a series of bi-monthly events, this evening is a chance to see and hear new directions in audio and visual performance.
Staff from the Faculty of Creative Arts will join performers and artists from Sydney, the Blue Mountains and interstate to showcase work being developed in both conventional and experimental forms using laptops, acoustic instruments, surround-sound and digital visual media.
¼_inch is the brainchild of both Julius Ambroisine and staff member and research student Aaron Hull and is to be an ongoing bi-monthly event providing a forum for new sound and visual art-forms. The event is structured to create a platform for local emerging artists to present work alongside established practitioners.
Rather than dry and serious, ¼_inch is intended to be a laid-back affair, promoting a stimulating listening experience.
The upcoming premiere of ¼_inch will feature Brisbane sound artist Scott Sinclair who works with electronics and manipulated guitar. Other artists will include UOW staff members Professor Julian Knowles and Associate Professor Greg Schiemer , as well as Ben Byrne and Donna Hewitt from Sydney, and P.A. from the Blue Mountains.
