So you think you know the alphabet?

Design Week begins this week (22 March 2005) at the University of Wollongong’s Faculty of Creative Arts with a range of activities, lectures and presentations.

The School of Art and Design is hosting the event, which includes industry experts and guest lecturers.

Among them is a keynote address on Visual Culture and Typeface Design by Dr Anthony Calahan from the University of Canberra.

Graphic Design and New Media students will investigate the art and science of type and symbols in a masterclass in typography.

Sydney’s College of Fine Arts lecturer, writer and interaction designer Andy Polaine will address the Role of play in Interactive Design, and conduct a project through Omnium, an online collaborative space run by COFA.

In the FCA Gallery an exhibition of design and art by Sydney artist Stefan Fazan and local motion graphics agency The Visiouscycle will be staged. Also on display will work by staff and graduate students the Graphic Design and New Media program.

On Tuesday, Creative Director at Saatchi Design Kevin Finn will launch his new design journal, Open Manifesto.
