Voltage

Two short works programs: new music composition and performance
Created and performed by second and third year Sound – Composition and Music Production students

Voltage is two concerts presenting new works composed and performed by second and third year Sound – Composition and Music Production (SCMP) students from the Faculty of Creative Arts.

Presented over two nights, each program explores a spectrum of contemporary practice created by composer/performers working in the electro acoustic domain.

From pop to pure data, these emerging artists perform their own original short works created using conventional instruments such as guitars, violas, cellos and pianos as well as laptops, analogue synthesizers, radio scanners and video.

There are singer songwriters and improvised instrumental performance works, live cello harmonics, soundscapes, algorithmic composition, audiovisual works, and sounds and samples that are manipulated, mashed up and reorganized to create new sonic experiences.

Voltage will also include a sausage sizzle and a live band.

SCMP students have a diversity of experiences under their belts ranging from one band ranked in Triple J’s Radio’s national ‘Un-earthed Competition’ whilst others have studied and performed for orchestras overseas, or composed and performed in music theatre productions.

Voltage is produced, rehearsed and managed by SCMP students, with production support from FCA Performance, and offers a unique opportunity to experience the multifaceted talents of these young musicians.
