The Faculty of Creative Arts, School of Music and Drama is pleased to present the second major performance of the Autumn season at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre.  This presentation of Peter BarnesÂ’ DREAMING is directed by Syd Brisbane and showcases the combined talents of both Performance and Music students at UOW. DREAMING is an epic tale that illustrates the tandem nature of creation and obliteration.

Set in England during the bloody aftermath of the War of the Roses, a war-weary captain leads a band of renegades across the torn landscape in search of a dream.  In this haunting and funny story of heroism and human values, Barnes presents a facetious view of the contemporary consequences of war, honour, dishonour and materialism.  In essence, DREAMING is a twisted vaudeville-style play, linking laughter and death in the presence of beautiful poetic imagery.

Syd Brisbane has directed shows at the Old Fitzroy Theatre and starred alongside David Field in Daniel Keenes movie Silent Partner.  Syd is a member of The Rabble (a national theatre directors collaborative) and is currently presenting Corvus in association with the contemporary Carriageworks venue in Sydney.

The Faculty of Creative Arts off-campus endeavours represent a stirring development in the mission to expose local art and youth culture in the Wollongong region. DREAMINGwill be showing at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre from 30 May - 1 June at 8.15pm.  To arrange your booking, contact IPAC direct on 4226 3366.
