"Woyzeck" by Georg Büchner
Directed by James Beach
"A good murder, a genuine murder, a beautiful murder. As beautiful as one could ever ask for. It's a long time since we've had one like it."
Woyzeck explores the complex struggle between the individual and the world, the natural and the civilised, as a man flies from profound philosophical introspection to fits of jealous murderous rage. It is about the primal fact of being human, the tragedy of love and the comedy of mortality. It is mad and, like all mad things, obsessed with truth. First year performance students are undertaking a radical experiment in bringing these complex thoughts and passions to the stage and risking their own relative comfort in search of the profound possibility of alien passions.
James Beach directed 'Romeo and Juliet' for the FCA in 2002, Michael Gow's 'Europe' for Anon productions in 2001 and completed honours studies at the Faculty in 2000. He appeared in 'Bedtime for Bastards' by Van Badham at the recent Adelaide Fringe for the co-operative Pesto Manifesto, for whom he is producing Linda Jaivin's play 'Halal el Mashakel' as part of the 2004 Viva la Gong Festival. He also recently appeared in Geoff Burton's film, 'The Fall of the House' at the Sydney Film Festival.

"He Had it Coming"
Directed by Robina Beard
"A long time colleague is dead - How did he die? Was he murdered? His friends and acquaintances gather for his memorial service. All have reason to dislike him.
But the memories of him come through in song and dance - good or bad he was a force to be reckoned with. This is a collage of great songs, funny songs, hot songs, favourite songs...... we hope you like them all."
- Robina Beard.
Robina Beard has had a long career in the theatre in particular musical theatre as a performer, choreographer and director. She is excited by the depth of talent of the students. Their input into the choices made for this performance has been of great importance.
