UOW student takes out archfashion Fashion Journalism competition
Creative Arts 'Feature Writing' student Kaila Matthews, was one of three UOW students selected as finalists in the 2009 archfashion Fashion Journalism competition.
Kaila, who hopes to pursue a career in fashion journalism, submitted her pitch for casual fashion label PUMA and beat out nine other University finalists from across Australia to win the title. Her prize was a selection from the George fashion label, Spring Summer 09 collection.
Of the winning entry, the judges comments included, “Overall very good – written like a true fashion press release. I liked the fact that the writer referenced celebrities and designer collaborations – this is the stuff everyone wants to know about. The copy flows well and is full of colour.”
Kaila is currently studying a Bachelor of Communication and Media Studies with a major in Journalism.
The winning profile can be viewed on the archfashion website at: www.archfashion.com.au/puma
Kaila’s Faculty of Creative Arts classmates in ‘Feature Writing’, Amy Porritt and Kate Walsh, also made the final nine. Congratulations to all three!
