Dr David Blackall from the School of Journalism and Creative Writing will also be awarded his PhD at the same ceremony. His thesis, entitled: John Perceval An ethical representation of a delinquent angel, was submitted with a one-hour documentary: Delinquent Angel, (video cover pictured left) which has received considerable acclaim at various national film festivals, and was broadcast on Australian television on its completion. The documentary primarily explores the history and works of Australian artist John Perceval.John Perceval died in October 2000, but had seen and acknowledged the documentary produced by David, who was for a short time, Perceval's son-in-law. David Blackall married Perceval's daughter, Alice but she moved away to the UK in 1985, taking with her, their son Marlo.
