Twilight at Riversdale - An Australian Premiere
A chamber music concert featuring the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s Elizabeth Jones (violin) and Bernard Lanskey from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London (piano), will be held at the Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Education Centre at Riversdale, a BUNDANON property located on the Shoalhaven River near Nowra, on Saturday 10th of April at 5.00 pm.
With a program including Sonatas by Brahms and Debussy and two short works composed by the Dean of the Faculty of Creative Arts, Andrew Schultz, Sleepers Wake, Karalanga for solo piano and Night Flight for violin and piano (an Australian premiere), the event is an opportunity to hear two internationally renowned musicians at a striking location on the Shoalhaven River.

A joint collaboration between the Faculty of Creative Arts, University of Wollongong and the BUNDANON, this informal and friendly event hopes to attract both music and art lovers, with the concert venue boasting a number of major Arthur Boyd paintings and presenting sweeping views of the Shoalhaven River.
Elizabeth Jones – a permanent member of the ACO has worked with composer Andrew Schultz previously on a work entitled Stick Dance III which was presented in Park Lane Group Concerts in London in 1993.
Bernard Lanskey – is the Assistant Director of Music and Head of Postgraduate Music at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. Australian born, he has studied in Australia, France and London, and most recently has toured Great Britain with television journalist John Suchet, offering a lecture recital presentation, Beethoven: The Last Master. He has also worked with Australian composer Andrew Schultz in the past, recording and releasing The Inner Line, a CD of four-hand piano music by Brahms, Schubert and Schultz in 2001.
Andrew Schultz – Australian composer Andrew Schultz’s education included study at the Universities of Queensland and Pennsylvania and at King’s College London. He has been the recipient of various awards including three Australian Council Composer Fellowships, a Fulbright Award, and the Australian National Composer Opera Award. He has held many commissions, including, from the major Australian orchestras and his two operas (Black River and Going into Shadows) which have been presented live and on film around the world. His most recent work, the symphonic cantata Journey to Horseshoe Bend, had its first performance in May 2003 by the Sydney Symphony.
There will also be preconcert performances from eminent young Shoalhaven and Illawarra region musicians from 4.00 pm and preconcert drinks from 4:40 pm. A special dinner package at The Silos Restaurant in Berry is available, following the concert (5pm). Concert tickets $15, concession $10, children free. Price includes drinks at intermission. Dinner (later at Silos Restaurant) $40 extra. Riversdale is a 90 minute drive from Wollongong.
