TIDE Launch 2006

Demolition, alcohol and dead cats - these are just some of the themes in this year's TIDE, a publication that will be launched on May 26th by Creative Writing students at the University of Wollongong.  TIDE is an anthology of student and community work that has been compiled by third-year editing students. 

Each year, third year Creative Writing students come together for thirteen weeks in autumn session and attempt to create something beautiful.  From soliciting the creative work to organizing the layout and launch, students are responsible for the entire publication.

"It's a hands-on class that gives them practical experience in editing.  But it can be a little stressful for us all," lecturer Dr Shady Cosgrove said. The Illawarra community are all invited to the TIDE launch which will include special guest appearances by The Bracket Creeps, a self-styled poetry boy band, and swing band Pettibone.  TIDE will be available for purchase for five dollars.
