Zoe Steen

First
Class Honours Creative Arts graduate, Zoe Steen has
been awarded the University Medal for 2003. She has
been invited to accept her award at the latest Graduation
ceremony (2004). Creative Arts would like to congratulate
Zoe on her commitment to her theatrical work and research,
and we wish her well in the future!
As a Postgraduate student in 2003, Zoe was awarded
the Campus Chapter Alumni Honours Year Book prize (worth
$300) for academic achievements in 2002. This prize
is awarded every year to an Honours student in each
faculty across campus.
During 2003, Zoe took a Dramaturgical secondment to
the Ensemble Theatre in Kirrabilli, where she worked
on a David Williamson play, "Birthrights",
as well being involved with the [THEATRE] company at
the University of Wollongong.
Zoe directed the complex The Black Sequin Dress which
was staged at the Bridge Theatre Consiton (2003), and
was involved in the benefit in aid of the Cancer Care
Unit at Wollongong Hospital:The Vagina Monologues (Hope
Theatre, UOW, Saturday 31st May, 2003).
[Theatre] comprises a cohort of postgraduate students
from the Faculty of Creative Arts, UOW. Their 2003 season
at the Bridge Theatre in Coniston involves a wide repetoire
of plays, a mix of contemporary and classic and local
and international, that will fully equip them for their
future careers in the Australian theatre industry and
provide quality and accessible entertainment for the
people of the Illawarra.
