Reflections on Studying
Doing a Doctor of Creative Arts (DCA) at the Faculty of Creative Arts (FCA) has for me been a rewarding experience. It encouraged me to do two major creative works and gave me focus. I would say that doing a DCA all depends on the individuals involved and the relationship between supervisors and candidates. I was lucky in that I found an excellent and dedicated supervisor in Assoc. Prof. Diana Wood-Conroy. In practical terms the course gave me research skills and an insight into cross disciplinary creative projects.
I enjoyed my time at the UOW. I found the FCA very stimulating and met very interesting students and lecturers. There was a good variety of creative work in all fields.
The Campus is built in a very beautiful environment under the shadow of Mt Keira, and has well-tended grounds. There are excellent amenities, good online support systems, and very helpful student support networks.
I am still a full time teacher at Nepean Arts and Design Centre, Western Sydney Institute of TAFE. My full time teaching job keeps me very busy. It is very difficult to find extra time to do anything else. Just a little time over for music, my interest is Early Music and also my own creative work.
